The Riviera Maya is filled with tropical foliage, exotic native fauna, white sandy beach, clear turquoise water, and lots of things to do. You can take tours, use public transportation, taxis, or rent a car. We normally like to have the freedom to explore on our terms so we normally rent a car.
There are many resorts to choose from in the area of Riviera Maya. You can take a trek through the jungles, dive the cenotes or excellent ocean locations, swim with the sperm whales, enjoy the nightlife in Playa del Carmen or Cancun, visit historical wonders such as Chichen Itza, take a day trip to Cozumel or Isla Mujeres, and visit numerous natural attractions and parks.

The Mayan Palace is our favorite place to stay in the Cancun – Playa del Carmen area. This beachfront resort has elegant accommodations, breathtaking views, warm waters, many activities, and clear oceans. Amenities & services include restaurants, bars, concierge & travel agency, boutiques, internet service, supermarket, money exchange, entertainment center & video games, car rental, laundry service, airport pickup, and much more. The Mayan Palace has a spectacular pool that covers over 2 acres. It is one of the largest pools in Latin America. It is only yards from the ocean, with a nice beach area between the pool and the ocean.
Mayan Palace Timeshares - We have several timeshare weeks at the Mayan Palace. We try to go every year, but sometimes other events take precedence. This year we had a new grandbaby and we spent about 3 weeks in China. We simply can’t use all of our weeks.
Here is what we have at the Mayan Palace: 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom suites with kitchenette, dining area, and living room with pullout couch.
Price: 1 bedroom = $1000, 2 bedroom = $1500; not available 2 weeks around Easter and 2 weeks around Christmas and New Years; and based on availability (best if booked 6 months prior to arrival date). However, we just booked a week less than one month in advance. So, don’t give up because it is last minute.
